Located Northeast of Indianapolis is the diverse area of Lawrence Township. Lawrence is relatively split up when it come to neighborhoods and areas including:
Castleton: Castleton is a commercial and retail hub located in the southern part of Lawrence Township, and has the popular Castleton Square Mall.
Fort Harrison: Named after the historic Fort Benjamin Harrison, this area is situated near the northeastern border of Lawrence Township. It’s home to Fort Harrison State Park, a large green space offering hiking trails, picnic areas, and a golf course.
Geist Reservoir: Located in the eastern part of Lawrence Township, Geist Reservoir is a popular destination for boating, fishing, and lakeside living. The neighborhoods surrounding the reservoir offer a mix of luxury homes, townhouses, and apartments, often with scenic views and access to water-related activities.
Organized in 1822, Lawrence Township has grown to a population of 125,145 as of 2017 according to the Census Bureau.
Towncharts reports a median age of 35 with a slight majority of the population being female.
According to Census Reporter, the median household income in Lawrence Township is $48,660. The ethnicity breakdowns are as follows – 53% Caucasian, 34% African-American, 9% Hispanic, 2% Asian, and 3% were other races.
Niche reports median home values of $151,400 compared to the national average of $184,700 and a median rent value of $822 compared to the national average of $949. 59% of people in Lawrence Township own their homes versus 41% who rent.
Similar to some of the other Townships we’ve discussed, Lawrence Township is very hit or miss in both area and opportunity for investments.
