About Lebanon

Lebanon, Indiana was founded back in 1830 by two men who served in the Indiana Militia.

Adam Frenh is the man who named the city. After seeing a cluster of hickory trees that he believed looked like the Cedars of Lebanon from the Bible, he decided that Lebanon would be the city’s name.

To help the town flourish when it first started, a road was built that went from Indianapolis to Lafayette. This improved transportation options and the growth of the city.

Today, Lebanon is home to rich history with several parks and building attractions. One of the most historic buildings is the Cragun House. It was built in 1893 and is now a tourist destination with many of the original families’ belongings still kept inside from their travels.

Lebanon hosts several festivals throughout the year.
